Definition:
There are absent or diminished feelings of sexual interest or desire, absent sexual thoughts or fantasies and a lack of craving for sex or responsive desire, also called loss of libido or sexual urge/appetite. Reasons or incentives for attempting to become sexually aroused are scarce or absent. This lack of interest is more than would be expected with the ‘normal’ lessening of interest with life-cycle and the duration of the relationship.

Hypo-active sexual desire: persistent lack of desire, such as sexual thoughts or fantasies and desire for, or receptivity to initiation by a partner, that causes personal and/partner distress. The woman has a low sex drive and does not feel erotic sensations, never or rarely feels “turned on” or “horny”. She does not masturbate or fantasize, and if she initiates sex it is generally to please her partner. She requires intense stimulation to produce any sexual response, and then arousal and orgasm may follow.

Inhibited sexual desire [ISD}: sexual interest has previously been higher and has now declined or even disappeared. Sexual or ‘horny’ feelings are not perceived, as they have been ‘turned off”. All reflexes that are subject to voluntary control can be inhibited or turned off, and in ISD the lack of appetite for sex can be likened to suppressing hunger in anorexia. ISD is usually related to conflict or insecurity in the relationship, excessive demands of her partner, sexual pain, boredom, hostility, distrust, or not being attracted to the partner, or any chronic or debilitating illness [3]. Dealing with these issues should improve your level of sexual interest

Situational inhibited sexual desire: inhibition of sexual desire in certain circumstances or with a particular partner.
