Pain during intercourse is referred to as ‘dyspareunia’. It does not occur as commonly in men as in women, and the causes and effects differ. However, pain during intercourse will affect the desire to have sex, and the arousal and sometimes orgasm, and the willingness to engage in sexual activity, and if it is not treated, can lead to relationship problems and even breakdown.

So it is important to understand the types of pain that can occur during sexual activity and recognize pain that can affect sexual function, and to seek help for treatment.
