Sex therapy means the treatment of sexual problems, and is indicated for people who do not feel good about their own or their partner’s sexual response. It is intended to improve loving intimacy rather than striving for the goal of guaranteed orgasms. Sex therapy cannot teach people to love one another, but it can help them to show their love through meaningful and pleasurable sexual expressions.
Sex therapy is unlikely to be successful in a relationship that has broken down, or if one partner has a vested interest in maintaining the dysfunction, or will not co-operate.
