Trichomoniasis
This is caused by a tiny organism that causes infection in th vagina and sometimes in the man's urethra [tube that carries urine and ejaculate through the penis. It is usually transmitted through sexual intercourse.
Symptoms:
- Yellowish-green, watery vaginal discharge, that tends to be frothy, greenish, and has an offensive odour
- Inflammation of vulva and vagina
- Soreness, chronic irritation around the genital area
- There may be no symptoms [especially in men, but they may experience a discharge and/or pain when passing urine]
Treatment: antibiotic [prescribed by a doctor or clinic]. Both partners should be treated even if the male does not have symptoms.
