Psychological:
  1. guilt, fear and trauma from childhood
  2. problems of letting go, and fear of losing control
  3. lack of information: the woman may not be aware that orgasm is possible or what to expect or even that what she is experiencing is an orgasm
  4. lack of experience [including no or little masturbatory experience],
  5. poor communication about sexual preferences
  6. inadequate stimulation, distractions, intrusive thoughts, lack of privacy
  7. conflict in the relationship, stress, financial problems
  8. age related changes may be physical [need for more direct and prolonged stimulation] or psychological [“I should not be having sex at my age”].
Physical:
  1. trauma or surgery that affects the genitals, vessels or nerves in the pelvis
  2. acute/chronic illness, depression
  3. male dysfunction [See: Premature Ejaculation]
  4. medication [anti-depressants, anti-hypertensive treatments]
