There are big variations in size of penis. The concern about size probably starts when young boys compare themselves to their friends, and when they look down at their penis, it appears shorter than it actually is, because of the pad of fat over their pubis, and so young boys and men should check themselves in a mirror when they look at other boys.

Men who compare themselves in the locker room may still find that when they are flaccid [soft] their penis does appear smaller than other men, but the difference in size of the flaccid penis between men is less apparent in the erect state, because a greater increase occurs during erection in the smaller penis [4].

In the flaccid state penile size varies between 6-10 cm and in the erect state it varies between 12- 16 cm. The vagina itself is only about 7 cm long, and so it is a very male thing that a large penis is desirable, - it really doesn't do any more for a woman, as most of her sensations are felt on the surface of her genitals. The greatest intensity of erotic stimulation in women is felt in the clitoris and labia [‘lips’ that surround the clitoris and entrance to the vagina], and for some women special sensations are felt at the ‘G zone' or 'G spot’. This is located about 3 cm from the entrance to the vagina on the front wall of the vagina. Movement of the penis in the vagina during intercourse draws on the clitoris and labia minora [small lips] that are most highly sensitive.
Most women [70%] need to have stimulation of their clitoris in order to have an orgasm [1], and depending on the body structure of each partner and the positions they assume, some women can never experience an orgasm during intercourse- regardless of the size of their partner’s penis- and they need to have direct stimulation of the clitoris before, during or after intercourse.

The vaginal walls are elastic and accommodate the penis, and the delusion that penile size is related to sexual adequacy is a misconception, as the intensity of arousal is not dependent on the size of the penis,
and women are generally not concerned about a penis being small. Most women respond best in a loving relationship where they feel cherished and connected-regardless of the size of their partner’s penis.
