Trichomoniasis

This is caused by a tiny organism that causes infection in th vagina and sometimes in the man's urethra [tube that carries urine and ejaculate through the penis. It is usually transmitted through sexual intercourse.

Symptoms:

  1. Yellowish-green, watery vaginal discharge, that tends to be frothy, greenish, and has an offensive odour
  2. Inflammation of vulva and vagina
  3. Soreness, chronic irritation around the genital area
  4. There may be no symptoms [especially in men, but they may experience a discharge and/or pain when passing urine]

Treatment: antibiotic [prescribed by a doctor or clinic]. Both partners should be treated even if the male does not have symptoms.
