Sexl Therapy [See: Sex Therapy]

Sex therapy involves the therapeutic treatment of sexual problems and concerns. Treatment can be on an individual basis or with a couple, and involves a careful history and physical examination, and usually relationship therapy and communication skills and sexual assignments.

Some sexual problems are related to medical conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, depression, and a medically qualified professional should be consulted to evaluate and treat any physical problems or to change medication that may affect sexual function. Once physical causes have been ruled out or treated, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, clergy, nurses and educators with training and experience in sexual haelth can provide sensitive and ethical sex therapy.

It is a brief, action-orientated type of psychotherapy focused on solving sexual problems.
