Pelvic Inflammatory Disease [Infection of the fallopian tubes]

This may be caused by an untreated STD such as gonorrhoea or chlamydia [See: STDs]

Symptoms in women:

  1. Abdominal pain and backache
  2. vaginal discharge
  3. Fever and feeling of being unwell
  4. Sex may be painful/uncomfortable

If left untreated: May cause an ectopic pregnancy and / or infertility

Treatment: Antibiotics [prescribed by a doctor].
