Erection

What is an erection?

An erection is the condition of the penis when the spongy tissue in it fills with blood, becoming firm and increasing in size, as a result of physical or psychological stimulation or both.

Erections depend on the health of the blood vessels and nerves and tissue of the penis.

Erections occurs quite quickly throughout the major part of a man's life. In the later years, usually beginning at 50, it may take a man longer to achieve an erection even with the sufficient stimulation. In both sexes, as one gets older, the speed and intensity of the sexual responses may be reduced. In older men, erections may take longer and may requre more direct tactle stimulation (touch/masturbation).
